Getting started…again

Yep, haven’t updated in a while, but I’m working on a plan for more regular updates, in more intentional categories. I want this blog to be about family updates, but also it has potential as an exercise in writing for me (or Shel, if she ever wants to hop on). There’s lots of other things going on right now too, though, so it may be a little while before the site officially “relaunches”.

In the meantime, I reworked our photos section – linking it directly with my Facebook albums. I’m keeping it updated fairly regularly, so there is a not-alltogether-complete visual history of what’s going on with us under photos – check it out.

Reliving Summer

Fall has arrived. The weather is colder than it should be so far — no sign of our normal indian summer, and we are doing our best to keep our tomatoes on the vine as long as possible…probably to this weekend. Noah is walking/running all over the house and learning new things every day. He’s still the strong silent type (no words yet), although he imitates certain things he hears like “tickle tickle tickle!”, “Amen.” and “oh no!” I can’t wait to hear “daddy” and “mommy” come out of that cute little face.

We recently visited friends and family throughout the midwest over 10 days, traveling from Chicago down to Nashville and back. It was a lot of driving, but well worth it. There is video and photo coverage of the trip that needs to be posted — where does the time go?!? Last weekend aunt Mindy arrived for a too-quick visit, and soon grammy Barb will be here to get her Noah-fix. Between thoses two visits we head to Anacortes for a long weekend with aunt Michelle, Uncle John, Emily, and Katie (Jenny too).

Anyway, that’s life right now. I just wanted to get an update up, for whomever might still visit this site (hopefully some of you are out there).

Summer is flying, and a trip to the coast

I’m having a hard time keeping up with all the video and photos that are coming out of this summer, and it’s not going to get any easier any time soon. We still have a trip to the midwest coming up, and a trip up to Anacortes to visit the Hackstadts.

Meanwhile, we just recently returned from a trip to Shelton Washington to spend some time with Grammy Barb, Grampy Jim, Aunt Mindy, and Bailey at the beach house. We got to see “First Fish” — an indian celebration of the opening of salmon season. This included an amazing salmon and clam lunch. We did some clamming of our own, relaxed a lot, and Noah enjoyed practicing his walking skills all over the place, and throwing sand and rocks into (near…towards…sometimes) the water. This will all be easier to explain in the photos and video shot…I just need to get to uploading it so it can be shared. Soon…I hope. Very soon.

PS — I haven’t even gotten around to editing Noah’s first birthday party. I’ve got some work to do…

Video recap of our camping trip

Finally finished video #1 of our camping trip to McCall. I have way too many of these planned, including Noah’s first birthday, another (more artistic) one from McCall…and many more I can’t think of right now because I’m tired. Good night.

Noah’s First Birthday, and Camping Photos Up!

Noah turned one! Unbelievable how quickly a year can go. You wouldn’t think so when you’re sleep-deprived and challenged in so many new ways, but it does. Shel’s family came to town to help celebrate, and were a God-send in helping us get a party pulled together. It’s amazing how much you can get done with all the extra love for Noah to choose from around the house. The party went off well, and hopefully everyone had a good time…we did.

The party was on the 5th, and on the 7th we took off for several days of “camping”. I use quotes because we borrowed grandma and grandpa Blakeman’s trailer, so it was camping in luxury compared to what I’m used to. We had a great time hiking, biking, and going to be early. Noah enjoyed his first camping adventure too, as far as we can tell. Good memories made — I look forward to more of this kind of family time in the future.

Yardwork, part 2 (finally)

I haven’t posted this yet?!? I thought for sure I had. Oh well…is anyone out there looking at this site anymore anyway. Perhaps another “family and friend newsletter” is in order to promote the site again.

Weekend Fun

Noah is pretty self-sufficient when it comes to play time. Sure, he loves playing with his parents, family, and friends, but right now there are times when only he knows the game he wants to play. I caught about 5 minutes of that play time this past weekend and condensed it to about a minute and a half. Enjoy (as we do).

It’s a little tricky juggling yard work with Noah’s sleep, eat, and play schedule, but we managed to pull off a significant improvement to our yard. Hopefully we can tackle a few more before Noah’s big 1st birthday!

Shoshone Falls and hummingbirds — spring has sprung

It’s been a busy spring — Noah’s learning new things, we took a spring day trip to Shoshone falls, and hummingbirds arrived in our backyard. Our garden is shaping up quite nicely, and we’ve attended the first of what will be many 1st birthday parties. Noah’s friend Chloe was first, Luke’s is tomorrow, and so on, and so on.
